What We'll Cover

  • How to extend or shorten a session with + and -

  • How to take a break that appears on your calendar

  • What to do when a meeting overruns a scheduled block

Aftertone lets you extend, shorten, or pause a Focus Mode session without leaving the screen or manually adjusting your calendar. The calendar updates automatically as you go.

Adding more time to a session

If you need more time mid-task, click the plus icon next to the timer and select how long you want to add. Aftertone updates your Google Calendar immediately so the block reflects the actual time you are spending.

When a task goes overdue

If a task runs past its scheduled block, Aftertone shows an overdue indicator on the Focus Screen. You are presented with three options: Auto-Extend the session until you stop, Complete the task as-is, or add a fixed amount of extra time. You choose โ€” Aftertone does not adjust your schedule without you telling it to.

Taking a break

Press B or click Take a Break. A short panel appears where you can set how long you want. Aftertone adds a break block to your calendar so others can see it. When the break ends, Focus Mode opens again with your next task.

Pausing a task and coming back to it

Press Tab to leave Focus Mode mid-task. The task stays in your schedule and is marked as in progress. When you re-enter, Aftertone picks up where you left off.

If a meeting runs into a scheduled work block

If a meeting or call runs into a time block you had scheduled for focused work, press Escape to return to the Calendar view and drag the affected task to a new time. Aftertone will update Google Calendar to match. The task does not get lost โ€” it just moves.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Try it now โ€” In your next Focus Mode session, use the plus icon to add time if you need more, or let the overdue prompt guide you when a block ends. Let the calendar update itself.
