Why people leave Motion
Motion's AI reschedules your day without asking. That was the feature. Now it's the complaint. Tasks move, focus blocks vanish, and you spend time managing the scheduler instead of working. Motion has also been drifting upmarket toward teams, and a pricing restructure left solo users paying more for features built for organisations.
Before you cancel Motion
A few things worth checking before you close the account:
Export your tasks and data. Most Motion data can be downloaded from Settings. Look for an Export or Backup option and save a CSV — you'll want this before the account goes read-only.
Check your billing date. Cancelling stops the next charge, but you usually keep access until the current period ends. There's no need to rush the switch.
Note any integrations. If Motion is connected to Google Calendar, Slack, or other tools, those connections will stop working after cancellation. Reconnect them in your new app once you've switched.
How to cancel Motion
Go to app.usemotion.com, click your avatar top right, then Settings, then Billing. Click Cancel Plan. Your data stays accessible until the billing period ends.
What happens after you cancel Motion
Your Motion account stays active until the end of the billing period you've already paid for. You won't lose access immediately. Use that window to export your data and get set up somewhere new before the account closes.
If you're on an annual plan and cancel partway through, check Motion's refund policy — some apps will prorate the unused months, others won't.

How to get your data out of Motion
Step 1. In Motion, go to Settings → Export.
