How to Cancel Fantastical
Written By The Aftertone Team
Why people leave Fantastical
Fantastical moved to a $40/year subscription when it used to be a one-time purchase. The product is still good, but for users who mostly want a planning tool rather than a feature-rich calendar, it's more than they need.
Before you cancel Fantastical
A few things worth checking before you close the account:
Export your tasks and data. Most Fantastical data can be downloaded from Settings. Look for an Export or Backup option and save a CSV โ you'll want this before the account goes read-only.
Check your billing date. Cancelling stops the next charge, but you usually keep access until the current period ends. There's no need to rush the switch.
Note any integrations. If Fantastical is connected to Google Calendar, Slack, or other tools, those connections will stop working after cancellation. Reconnect them in your new app once you've switched.
How to cancel Fantastical
Open Fantastical, go to Preferences, then Subscription, and cancel. Or manage your subscription at flexibits.com/account.
Go to Fantastical billing settings
What happens after you cancel Fantastical
Your Fantastical account stays active until the end of the billing period you've already paid for. You won't lose access immediately. Use that window to export your data and get set up somewhere new before the account closes.
If you're on an annual plan and cancel partway through, check Fantastical's refund policy โ some apps will prorate the unused months, others won't.
What Aftertone does differently
Aftertone adds what Fantastical doesn't have โ task management, time blocking, a Focus Screen, and weekly reports. It's $20/month with a 14-day free trial, no card required.
How to get your data out of Fantastical
Step 1. Fantastical syncs to Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, or Outlook โ your events are already in those accounts.
Step 2. No export needed. Connect the same calendar account to Aftertone and your events appear immediately.
Step 3. If you have Fantastical tasks (Reminders), open Apple Reminders and export or copy them to paste into Aftertone's Smart Capture.
Fantastical's natural language parsing doesn't transfer, but Aftertone's Auto Plan handles scheduling from your task list automatically.
How to set up Aftertone
2. Download Aftertone. Free 14-day trial at aftertone.io/get-started. No card required.
3. Connect Google Calendar. Your existing events pull in immediately. Your calendar and tasks are now in one view.
4. Plan your first week. Use Auto Plan to schedule your tasks. The weekly report will tell you at the end of the week whether it worked.
