Leaving ClickUp for Personal Use?

Written By The Aftertone Team

Why people leave ClickUp

ClickUp is a powerful team project management platform. For individual users it's overwhelming -- too many views, too many settings, too many features. The most common feedback from solo users is that they spent more time inside ClickUp organising their work than actually doing it.

Before you cancel ClickUp

A few things worth checking before you close the account:

Export your tasks and data. Most ClickUp data can be downloaded from Settings. Look for an Export or Backup option and save a CSV โ€” you'll want this before the account goes read-only.

Check your billing date. Cancelling stops the next charge, but you usually keep access until the current period ends. There's no need to rush the switch.

Note any integrations. If ClickUp is connected to Google Calendar, Slack, or other tools, those connections will stop working after cancellation. Reconnect them in your new app once you've switched.

How to cancel ClickUp

In ClickUp, go to Settings, then Billing, and click Cancel Plan.

Go to ClickUp billing settings

What happens after you cancel ClickUp

Your ClickUp account stays active until the end of the billing period you've already paid for. You won't lose access immediately. Use that window to export your data and get set up somewhere new before the account closes.

If you're on an annual plan and cancel partway through, check ClickUp's refund policy โ€” some apps will prorate the unused months, others won't.

What Aftertone does differently

Aftertone is built for one person. No team views, no workspace hierarchies -- just tasks, calendar, focus mode, and a weekly report on how your time was actually spent.

How to get your data out of ClickUp

Step 1. In ClickUp, go to Settings โ†’ Import/Export โ†’ Export.

Step 2. Choose Export workspace and select CSV format.

Step 3. Open the file and filter to your personal tasks (not team tasks).

Step 4. Paste your open task names into Aftertone's Smart Capture.

ClickUp's Docs, Dashboards, and automations don't transfer โ€” Aftertone is focused on personal task execution, not project management infrastructure.

How to set up Aftertone

2. Download Aftertone. Free 14-day trial at aftertone.io/get-started. No card required.

3. Connect Google Calendar. Your existing events pull in immediately. Your calendar and tasks are now in one view.

4. Plan your first week. Use Auto Plan to schedule your tasks. The weekly report will tell you at the end of the week whether it worked.
